ARGUS CHILDERS
Argus Childers (American, 1942 - 2024) studied at both the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Cooper School in Ohio before working as an illustrator for L.G. Hughes & Associates and Hallmark Cards. In 2012, Childers began to contemplate the industrial landscape of America as a studio artist. Through acrylic paint and collage, Childers focused his talents on the postwar infrastructure of yesteryear and considered both its physical and emotional impact on the 21st century. Through a color palette that recalls both earthen brick and neon signage, his gritty scenery highlights the transitional phases of urban industrialization.
EMILY DUBOWSKI
Emily Dubowski (American, b. 1938) is a representational, precisionist painter. Since her youth in Chicago, Illinois, her immediate surroundings have inspired her to make images with poise and accuracy. Despite Abstract Expressionism transitioning into Pop Art during her years of training at St. Louis University, Dubowski embraced painting akin to the Photorealist movement. Throughout her illustrious career, she has aimed to infuse her paintings with “emotional-pull,” the term she uses to best differentiate her work from other representational imagery. Her paintings are in many museum, corporate, and private collections, and are always available at Ward & Ward for acquisition.
NINA IRWIN
Nina Irwin's (American, b. 1965) favorite subject is the natural world. Her paintings are influenced by her exotic travels, as well as the ancient places that she has studied throughout art history. Translating into semiabstract landscapes, her works explore spirituality, truth, and beauty. She explores these themes through an open approach to materiality, often allowing her compositions to form spontaneously throughout the painting process. Nina Irwin works from her painting and ceramics studio in the historic Kansas City Stockyards. She received her B.A. in Studio Art from UMKC and is currently working on her M.A. in Art History.
